Carlos Yulo, the pride of Philippine gymnastics, has seen his total incentives for winning two gold medals at the upcoming Paris Olympics soar past P113 million. This milestone was reached after Chooks-to-Go awarded the gymnast a P3-million reward during the grand opening of their latest dine-in restaurant at Festival Mall in Muntinlupa.
The awarding ceremony, which was part of the launch of Chooks! — the 38th restaurant in the Chooks-to-Go chain — highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting Filipino athletes. Patricia Cheng-Lim, Vice President for Corporate Marketing and Chooks-to-Go Inc. Executive Vice President for Operations, expressed the company’s pride in recognizing Yulo’s achievements.
“Chooks-to-Go and Bounty have always been more than just a brand; it’s a beacon of hope for Philippine sports,” Cheng-Lim said. “We are honored to reward Carlos Yulo’s extraordinary accomplishments and are excited to share this moment with the fans who have been a crucial part of his success.”
The event was graced by notable figures, including Tennyson Chen, Chairman of the Board of Bounty Fresh Group Holdings and President of Chooks-to-Go Inc., Chief Finance Officer Diane Choi, and Festival Mall manager Yvette Dizon.
Among the special guests were Atlanta Games silver medalist Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Marcial, Paris Olympian fencer Samantha Catantan, and triathlon star Nikko Huelgas, who also serves as the marketing head of the Philippine Olympic Committee. Cynthia Carrion, chief of the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines, accompanied Yulo at the event.
Yulo’s unparalleled achievements in the Olympics have not only brought pride to the country but have also led to an outpouring of rewards from various sectors. His base incentive alone, as stipulated under Republic Act 10699 or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, amounts to P20 million, which provides Filipino Olympians with P10 million for each gold medal won.
In addition to the reward from Chooks-to-Go, Yulo recently received a P3 million incentive from the Senate, pushing his total incentives past the P100 million mark. Business magnate Manny V. Pangilinan further added a P10-million reward to Yulo’s growing list of incentives.
Carlos Yulo’s journey and achievements continue to inspire, with his rewards reflecting the nation’s immense pride in his contributions to Philippine sports.
