The eight-division world boxing champion and the Philippines’ boxing hero, Manny Pacquiao thanks the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for its decision of not stopping the airing of the senatorial candidate’s boxing fight (Pacquiao-Bradley fight) on April 9, 2016, against Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley.

The Comelec Chairman said that there is no “justiciable controversy” regarding Manny Pacquiao’s case because the boxing match has not happened.

There “was really no formal complaint that was filed in accordance with Comelec rules and procedures”, Bautista added regarding the Pacquiao-Bradley fight.

The boxing champ, together with his camp really expressed their joy with Comelec’s decision.

“I’m happy and thankful that God, through the decision of the Commission on Elections, to allow my coming fight to be shown on television and listened to on radio and read in newspapers, it has given me the chance to make our countrymen happy again,” Manny Pacquiao said during his media day Wednesday at the Wild Card Gym as quoted on an article in PhilBoxing written by Eddie Alinea.

The 37-year-old Saranggani representative expressed his thanks to Comelec Chairman Andy Bautista for not prohibiting the joy his fellowmen were experiencing every time he fights.

Manny Pacquiao’s boxing career is currently the most decorated one in terms of winning world boxing championships in eight weight divisions and not even Muhammad “The Greatest” Ali achieved this.

The Philippines’ pride currently has the belts from these weight classes namely: featherweight, super featherweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, welterweight, and super-welterweight.

This boxing match between Bradley is, according to Pacquiao is his last one.

”Huli na po ito at magre-retiro na ako, hayaan na ninyo na sa kahulihulihang pagkakataon ay makita pa nila ako na dala at iwinawagayway ang ating bandila,” Manny said.

[This will be the last time (I will fight) and I will now retire (from boxing), please just give this last chance for them (my countrymen) to see me carry and wave our flag.]
