Ara Galang Injury Scares La Salle Fans.
The La Salle lady spikers could have secured the UAAP Season 78 Women’s Volleyball championships as early as Wednesday if they toppled the miracle comeback of the Ateneo Lady Eagles, however they felt a major scare in the Game 2 of the Finals series when veteran Ara Galang returned to the dugout during the third set.
The lady eagles worked hard with leading 23-18 when Galang was subbed out and returned to the locker room accompanied by their physical trainer.
It was only in the fourth set when Galang was sent back to the game with Ateneo in the 6-4 in the frame and had 12 points in the last two frames of the game.
However, La Salle athletic director Nonong Calanog assured that what Galang experienced was a “minor thing.”
“Our doctors took a look at her kanina. There’s nothing major, but to be sure, she’ll meet up with a doctor tomorrow.” he said after the game.
He added that the good news is, it is nothing serious.
In the semi-finals of the Season 77 tournament, Galang suffered an ACL tear that hindered her from playing in the season’s finals against their arch rival Ateneo.
Calanog, however, did not detailed if it has something to do with why Galang returned to the locker room during the Game Two but emphasized that the star player will definitely be available to play on Saturday for the deciding match of the Finals.
Galang earlier expressed her excitement to play for the Finals as it will be her last year to play for her collegiate career.
If Galang and her team won’t make it on Saturday, the Ateneo will be named champions once more for the three-straight years.
With both teams aiming for the season’s championship, only one will spike supreme.
