Gilas Pilipinas 14-Man Final Line-up Released by SBP

The Philippine national men’s basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas final line-up for the highly anticipated Olympic Basketball Qualifying tournament which will be hosted by the Philippines this coming July. A total of 14 Gilas Pilipinas players will join the intensive training camp in Greece in the next few days.

The revelations of the 14-member Gilas Pilipinas line-up was released on social media through a tweet posted by team manager Butch Antonio. The members of the Gilas Pilipinas includes the following Filipino basketballs stars.

Based upon the list of official line-up released by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), San Miguel sharpshooter Marcio Lassiter is out of consideration. The former Gilas Pilipinas mainstay was ill ith bronchitis in the past weeks and he was not able to participate in the team’s tune-up games against Iran on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Aside from Marcio Lassiter who was absent during the last practice and tune-up games of Gilas Pilipinas, fellow Gilas mainstay Jeff Chan of Rain or Shine did not participate also in the tune-up games due to an injury but was present in both contests.

Gilas wins back-to-back against the Iranian national basketball team during the two tune-up games with the first game was held indoor and had a different format with a quarter-scoring results. Overall the Philippines defeated the visiting Iranians during the tune-up games without the usual superstars of the team who were absent during the game.

The Philippine national basketball team won with an impressive 81-70 victory over Iran during the tune-up games held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Before the Gilas Pilipinas vs. Iran tune-up games, Coach Tab Baldwin confirmed that Kiefer Ravena and Moala Tautuaa were both cut from the Gilas pool.
