Palarong Pambansa 2016 has officially ended last April 16 and it resulted to the 12th straight overall championship of the National Capital Region.
According to a report on Rappler, the NCR have been the champions since 2005 and up until now. They’ve ended having 104 golds, 57 silvers, and 48 bronzes in total.
Now, CALABARZON comes second having 40 golds, 43 silvers, and 59 bronzes.
Then, repeating on the third place is the Western Visayas finishing with a 35 golds, 35 silvers, 39 bronzes.
On the fourth place, Central Visayas. Fifth, still the Northern Mindanao.
Now, the newly-established Negros Island Region ended its first-ever Palaro with 21 golds, 28 silvers, 39 bronzes to be in the 6th place.
While other provinces trailed below the number of medal tallies like ARMM and CARAGA regions ending this year respectively on the last two places.
What’s important is the spirit of sportsmanship is there during the whole event.
It is sure that everybody enjoyed each others company and the camaraderie strengthened no matter what regions these student-athletes came.
Palarong Pambansa is an annual event featuring multiple sports that involves student-athletes from all the 18 regions in the Philippines. Each year, there is a specific host region. This year, it’s the Albay Province.
The sporting events were done at the Bicol University Sports Complex. Also, special sports for the student-athletes with special needs have been done for them. This really made this Palarong Pambansa so special.
