PH Army Hopes Pacquiao Fight Will Bring Guns Silent Across The Country

Government army expects Philippines will be peaceful on during Manny Pacquiao’s fight on Sunday.

The Philippine Army is hoping that the country will be peaceful again as Filipinos witness the fight of Pinoy ring icon Manny Pacquiao against Jessie Vargas in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This was the statement of Philippine  Army spokesman Lt. Col. Benjamin Hao before the awaited fight.

“We hope that the fight will again bring silence to tall guns, giving more spaces to peace across the our land,” Hao said.

Vargas, the WBO welterweight champion, and Pacquiao are supposed to face each other inside the ring at 9:30AM, Manila Time.

Pacquiao who now sits as a member of the Philippine Senate is a reserve officer of the Philippine Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

According to Hao, the Army troops around the Philippines have high hopes that Pacquiao will win in his fight against Vargas.

During Pacquiao’s fight, the Philippine National Police usually record “zero crime” where Pinoys stay at home witnessing the ‘Pambansang Kamao.’

The fight will be held at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States.

The Filipino senator is 10 years older than Vargas who is 27.

Vargas is 5’10” tall while Pacquiao is 5’51/2”.

Pacquiao uses southpaw stance while the American boxer applies orthodox.

Pacquiao has 58 wins, 6 losses, 2 draws ring record among his 66 total bouts, while Vargas has 27 wins, 1 defeat ring record among his 28 bouts.

The Filipino boxer has 58 percent knockout percentage while Vargas has 36 percent.

After beating Timothy Bradley in May this year, Manny Pacquiao announced his retirement, but now the 37-year-old is back and competing for the WBO World Welterweight title as a challenger to Vargas.

Jessie Vargas, on the other hand, took the vacant title in March with a TKO win over Sadam Ali.

The Sunday fight will be another challenger for the longevity of Pacquiao, who won world titles in a record eight weight divisions in his 21-year career. He also established himself as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers of all time.
