Duterte Confirms Bank Account, Spokesman Earlier Denied It.
Duterte’s Bank Account. Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte had already confirmed the existence on an account under his name at the BPI branch on Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig City, however in earlier interview, his spokesperson had called the bank account “non-existent.”
On Thursday morning, Peter Lavina said in an interview on ANC’s Headstart that Trillanes’ accusation that Duterte owns a joint account with his daughter, Sara, containing P211 million is a meant to destroy the candidate’s chance in the presidential election.
Lavina noted of why the Davao City mayor would open an account in Pasig City when is he actually based in Davao.
He said that what Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV is pointing out is a non-existent account saying that he would not issue any waiver for a non-existent account.
On Wednesday, Duterte branded Trillanes’ accusations as “pure garbage” and hit the vice presidential aspirant calling him a “dangerous man.”
“What I have is P200, 000. Puro kabalastugan yan. Trillanes, he is a dangerous man. Kita mo and porma maglakad, akala mo kung sino and buang,” Duterte said.
On Thursday, Duterte confirmed that he has an account at the BPI-Julia Vargas Avenue, hours after his spokesperson denied it however, he insisted that it does not contain the amount Trillanes alleged.
Furthermore, he clarified that his account at the BPI branch on Julia Vargas is not a joint account with his daughter.
He added that he has several bank accounts but noted that none of these contain millions. Earlier, Sec. Mar Roxas challenged Duterte to disclose bank account and sign the waiver.
