Valdez continued push for the chance of a three-year win with 34-point performance in the Game 2 inspiring the rest of her team to come from behind when La Salle Lady Spikers took over the first and the second set of the game.

Ateneo miraculously came back with gritty performance winning the third and the fourth set over the Lady Spikers giving the seas of blue with hope on the fifth set.

Valdez showed steady leadership to sustain the team’s performance and eventually recovered in the fifth set, 15-11 win making way for the deciding game on Saturday, April 30.

“Di pa tapos, Let’s see each other on Saturday.” Valdez said.

The five-year rivalry between two teams will finally boil down to one final game, two years for La Salle and two years for Ateneo. It is going to be a final thirds year championship for Valdez as she graduates from her collegiate career or La Salle will snatch back the championship title.

But Valdez is determined to graduate as Champ saying that the mental preparation will be as important as the physical for their final push.

“Remember all the things that we did right, analyze all the things na ginawa naming mali, and try to fix it during the training,” she said.

Valdez stressed that the Game 3 of the season will marked her last game in the UAAP.

“Last game ng Finals. Mind over matter ito. Kahit anong masakit, kahit anong meron, lalaban ka lang.” she firmed.

Given another chance to defend the title, Valdez along with the other seniors in their last season think that the Game 3 will be as exciting as ever.

“Tingnan na lang natin sa Saturday kung paano magko-close ang mga chapter ng UAAP careers naming mga seniors.” she added.
