Based on the September 2019 Mobile Network Experience Report, Globe has reached the 75% mark for 4G availability in the Philippines with a close difference of 0.7% and Smart reached 74.3%.

Opensignal notes that Smart’s 4G download speed dropped from 13.6mbps to 12.7mbps even though Smart offers a better download speed experience than Globe.

Smart was much more dominant in our regional speed metrics — but not everything went the way of the national winner in Download Speed Experience. The operator won in 12 provinces, but was held to a draw in five while Globe managed two rare wins in Benguet and Laguna,” Opensignal stated in their regional analysis.

With Mislatel’s DITO Telecommunity expected to launch in 2020, these two TelCo providers will continue improving their services in order for these companies to stay competitive.

These wide regional differences were borne out in our recent analysis of speeds in the Philippines largest cities. And even within the fastest provinces, we found download speeds could be twice as fast in some cities at the most congested times of the day,” Opensignal added.
