Samsung Display decided to halt the production of LCDs in China and South Korea by the end of 2020.

Samsung Display decided to stop the production of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels in China and South Korea by the end of 2020.

This, as Samsung was about to upgrade its LCD display into a “quantum dot” panels (QLED) for the next five (5) years. According to Samsung, the company will still supply ordered LCD panels to its customers until the end of 2020 “without any issues”.

Based on a report from Reuters, the spokesperson of Samsung said that the company has yet to decide on the future operations of Samsung’s factories in China.

Meanwhile, LG Display Co. Ltd. previously stated that the company will also stop the production of its LCD TV panels by the end of this year.
