100-Year-Old Woman Given An Amazing Birthday Surprise By Firefighters
Firefighters showed up to surprise a 100-year-old woman in Norfolk, Virginia.
The surprise happened after Jeanette Carter came to open her door as she saw a fire truck parked out front of her place and together with a crowd of firefighters gathered there. The said people were from the Battalion 3, Engine 11, Recruit Class 155, with trainees as well.
What these people did is that they have Jeanette a bouquet of flowers, a round of applause while wishing her happy 100th birthday!
Before, Jeanette’s late husband named Joe worked for 30 years in Norfolk, Virginia. The 100th birthday celebrant and the fire department were close to each other.
“She seemed really excited about it,” Chief Julian Williamson said to Inside Edition.
“She was really surprised. With her family’s service, we wanted to treat her to something special, to keep that family connection going,” he added.
The Norfolk Fire-Rescue posted on their Facebook page the photos of what they did during the 100th birthday of Jeanette Carter.
It wrote:
“Mrs. Jeanette Carty is a long time resident of Norfolk. She still lives in the house where she and her late husband raised their children. Norfolk Fire-Rescue has always been part of her life. Her late husband, Joe Carty served the city for 30 years, starting in 1942; as well as her nephew, Capt. David Bear and his father.
Yesterday, Mrs. Jeanette Bear Carty turned 100 years old. Battalion 3, Engine 11, Recruit class 155 and a few members from training showed up on her door step to wish her a Happy Birthday.”
