80-Year-Old Man Hits World Record

80-year-old Tony Bowman has set new world record in hurdles.

After running 100m in just five seconds slower than Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprinter who is deemed as the fastest person ever timed, 80-year-old Tony Bowman from Guiseley, West Yorks hit a new World Record.

Who would expect that an 80-year-old man who just recovered from a heart attack was able to run 100m with five seconds slower than the world’s fastest sprinter? Well, Tony Bowman just proved it to be possible.

British Indoor Championships in London held a sport challenge which was joined by Tony Bowman.

The existing record that time was the 11.10 seconds in the 80 and over age group. Tony Bowman, despite just coming from a cardiovascular condition, broke the existing record with 10.86 seconds for the 60 meters hurdles.

The sporty man went further and won the 60 and 200 meters sprints at the same time.

According to Tony, it is his first time to gain a world record. He had won titles before but it was not the same as that.

Further, he added that felt satisfied for he has really practiced a lot for it as he used to hurdle in the snow storm at Headingly to train himself.

Bowman can also run 100 meters in as extremely fast as 15.16 seconds.

Currently, Tony lives with his 82-year-old wife, Betty. More of his achievements is his winning in the 60 meters sprint and 60 meters hurdles in Italy.

The 80-year-old man also shared that he’s a fan of Colin Jackson, former sprint hurdler, and Derek Ibbotson, a distance runner.
