Netizens Call For Academic Freeze As Stories Of Hardship Pile
NETIZENS CALL FOR ACADEMIC FREEZE – Thousands of Netizens called out institutions and the education department asking for an academic freeze.
As the Philippines shifted to online classes, it was no secret that many students were left behind. Netizens explained that education should be a basic right for everybody. Sadly, for many Filipino students, this was not the case.
Since the implementation of online classes, several stories of hardships have been shared on social media pages. Because of this, the people in these stories have received tremendous help from generous and kind-hearted individuals. However, not every student gets lucky enough to have their story go viral.
As such, netizens took to Twitter and got the #AcademicFreezeNow trending. One user explained that online classes aren’t merely a struggle for students without gadgets, but rather “a collective travail of ALL Filipino Students and teachers”.
Both educators and students alike have struggled with the new online class system. Many on Twitter complained that instead of “learning”, they were merely passing “requirements”. One netizen said the given modules don’t matter as students won’t understand the presented concepts.
