Journalists Slam YouTuber Sangkay Janjan TV For Spreading Misinformation

JOURNALISTS SLAM YOUTUBER – A pro-Marcos “YouTube Historian” has left veteran journalists concerned as he continues to spread misinformation about the Philippines’ history.

Since he started his pro-Marcos content, YouTuber Sangkay Janjan TV has amassed a large following of over 450,000 subscribers. As such, veteran journalist Kevin Manalo expressed major concern regarding his growing popularity.

In a Twitter post, Manalo stated:

Random again but seriously something must be done to that YouTube channel spreading misinformation and revising Philippine history outright while gaining money from views and subscriptions.

Content is full of unfounded claims, while comments are from people reinforcing their own beliefs about the Marcoses. Basically, an echo chamber. I hope DepEd, NHCP, and other respectable organizations will take action.

Meanwhile, another veteran journalist, Jules Guiang said this regarding the trending vlogger:

Dilawan Kasaysayan vs. Tunay na Kasaysayan – yan ang paulit-ulit na sinasabi ng vlogger na ito. Wala raw Martial Law victims dahil sila pa raw ang nambibiktima noon. Lahat ng source niya, ayon sa matatanda na nakita niya online. Bonus: Puro pics ni BBM ang laging nakasingit

Still, with a massive following on the social media platform, it’s highly unlikely that his channel is going to be taken down. That’s because according to an article from DailyPedia, YouTube has yet to have a policy that prevents his type of content.

But, with Facebook recently deleting Hundreds of pages linked to China which were spreading propaganda and misinformation, hope looms that YouTube and Google would follow.
