The Philippine Constitution says that education is a right for “every Filipino youth”. But even with this fact, not all parents are still fortunate to at least send their children to school because of too much poverty.
Others, who can send their children to public schools, where free education is given, still has problems in purchasing the school supplies needed by children.
But even with this situation, there are children who were willing to go to and pursue their dreams in school even with the lack of needs like uniforms, school supplies, and “baon”.
The Grade 2 student named Harold Labutong was recently photographed while in class and is now making rounds on social media.
The viral photo was posted on Facebook by Thinking Pinoy.
Harold seemed to be a really good model for every student to not let poverty hinder pursue his or her dreams.
Some people expressed their sympathy with the little boy’s situation. Others did share their own experiences similar to what Harold experienced.
But, there are also people who blamed the Aquinos for such thing. According to some netizens, the wealthy Aquinos should have helped and supported schools like this.
With the current presidency of President Rody Duterte, people are hoping that these issues in the education sector would be addressed.
What do you think of this matter?
Will the new administration make an action regarding this?
