Hontiveros Responds To “Shoot To Discipline” Statement On Twitter
HONTIVEROS RESPONDS TO “SHOOT TO DISCIPLINE“– Senator Risa Hontiveros is no stranger to threats due to her nature of work and her position on certain issues.
Recently, a netizen on Twitter named Reyster said: “Diosko, Mayor Joy shoot to discipline din. Unahin si @risahontiveros char“.
As a response, Hontiveros said:
“My lawyers are looking into this. Not char. Di ako naduduwag sa mga threats.Nasanay na since I’ve been critical of this government.Pero di natin palalampasin ang mga ganito kasi nasasanay lang. We have to put a stop to this language & culture of violence.“
Sadly, statements such as these are being normalized on social media. However, being an advocate for human rights and non-violence, Hontiveros wanted to end this sort of behavior.
Meanwhile, as a response to the netizen that reported him to the Senator, Reyster called on the PNP for help. According to him, netizen Jai Cabajar was spreading libelous accusations against him.
The statement was made following reports that Quezon City Task Force Disiplina head Rannie Ludovica said: “Mula Bukas, shoot to kill na ang lalabag sa MECQ”.
Along with this, the Senator also called out the attention of QC mayor Joy Belmonte and the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) regarding the statements of Ludovica. In her official Twitter account, she said:
“Subukan mo nang malaman mo. Am calling the attn of @officialqcmayor Joy & @CHRgovph. As a QC resident for the last 35 yrs, I will personally work to hold this public official accountable for inciting violence vs civilians.“
