Here is an up close and personal interview of the taxi driver whose video went viral due to his impersonation of President Rodrigo Duterte
A video of a taxi driver recently went viral on social media as he imitated how President Rodrigo Duterte speaks.
The said video was uploaded by netizen “Rachelle Oyette Dequina” last February 2 while she was riding a cab which driver is Elcias Bugsad.
Imitating how the President talk is not only the tie that binds Bugsad to Duterte.
Aside from that, they are also both from Davao City.
The taxi driver does not only copy the Cebuano accent of the President but he can also imitate the cadence and occasional voice cracks of Duterte, based on the report of coconuts.co.
Since the video was uploaded, netizens was hooked to it until it went viral.
As of the writing, the said video posted by Dequina has already 11 million views, it has received 217 thousand reactions and it was shared for 153 thousand times.
In a Facebook Live of TV 5 on February 4, the network through its journalist Gem Avancena had a one on one interview with the viral taxi driver.
It was in Matina, Davao City, the hometown of the President’s impersonator.
According to Bugsad, his impersonation started when he took noticed of Duterte 2 years ago through the news.
That was the time he started to imitate the Philippines’ Chief Executive.
He said that he is just studying the gestures and accent of Duterte while he is watching the news concerning about the President.
Bugsad was also thankful to Dequina for uploading his video and he has the opportunity to be known.
In the video, the taxi driver gave sample of his impersonation of the President in addressing current issues in the country.
When asked if what have been the changes since his video went viral, Bugsad answered it with jest and in tune of Duterte’s accent.
“Maraming nagbago ma’am. Una-una konti na lang tulog ko, Di ako makatulog dun sa cellphone ko, laging nag-riring, humihngi ng appointment,” Bugsad jokingly said during the interview.
