An Overseas Filipino Worker ( OFW ) worker from Dubai, Mary Grace Alejandor, intended to fly back straight to Manila as she steps in the Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight.
The 40-year-old OFW gave birth in advance while in the route going to Manila. To attend to the pregnant woman who is really in the verge of giving birth to her child, the plane was forced to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, India.
To let everyone be informed of their sudden landing in India, an announcement that they were diverting the flight to attend to the concern of the Filipina migrant worker was given to all passengers by the pilot and the crew.
The very first symptom felt by the 40-year-old migrant worker from Dubai was abdominal pain. She travelled going Philippines with her 16-year-old son as she was seven months pregnant.
While giving birth to a baby girl, the crews of the cabin were willingly there to assist and help Alejandor.
Alejandor and her newborn baby was found to be getting weak after the woman gave birth. To get some medical assistance for the 40-year-old woman, the pilot decided to land the plane to the nearest landing point.
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was the nearest airport that time so they landed in India.
The representatives of Aero Technical which handles passenger services accompanied Alejandor who was unconscious and was immediately rushed into the hospital upon the landing of the plane.
Alejandor was brought to the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad.
After the check-up and medical assistance provided by the Apollo Hospital to the migrant worker, she’s now in stable condition according to the officials.
Considering the premature birth, the baby is currently supported by a ventilator and is being observed. Six weeks is the expected duration by the doctors for the baby to get fully recovered.
