Schools across several regions in the Philippines have announced class suspensions on February 6, 2026, due to Tropical Depression Basyang (#BasyangPH). The Department of Education (DepEd) confirmed that both public and private schools in affected areas will either suspend face-to-face classes or shift to alternative learning modalities to ensure the safety of students and school personnel.

In Bohol, all levels of schools will move to alternative learning for the day. Similarly, in Bukidnon, municipalities including Impasugong, Kalilangan, and San Fernando will implement alternative learning. Other areas such as Kibawe, Kitaotao, Libona, Malitbog, Maramag, Pangantucan, and San Fernando will either suspend face-to-face classes or switch to remote learning.
Camiguin municipalities Guinsiliban and Mambajao are included in the suspension list, while in Cebu, colleges in Argao will shift to alternative learning. Municipalities, including Badian, Naga, and several others, will suspend face-to-face classes or adopt remote learning depending on local conditions. Notably, municipalities like Borbon, Carcar, Dalaguete, Santander, Sibonga, and Toledo will use alternative learning methods.
Other affected regions include Cotabato (Libungan), Davao City, Davao Oriental (Lupon), and Iligan City, where alternative learning is encouraged. In Leyte, Bato and Mahaplag, as well as selected areas in Misamis Oriental such as Alubijid, Balingoan, Gingoog, El Salvador, Lagonglong, Medina, and Sugbongcogon, will follow similar measures.
Several municipalities in Negros Occidental, including Bago, La Carlota, Manapla, Pulupandan, and others, have also suspended face-to-face classes or shifted to alternative learning. San Carlos, Silay, and Talisay will not hold in-person classes. Negros Oriental, Siquijor, South Cotabato, Southern Leyte, and Surigao del Norte also reported school closures or shifts to alternative learning.
For public schools only, areas in Cebu such as Asturias, Cordova, San Fernando, and Talisay are under alternative learning measures, while select areas in Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro City, Camiguin, Sagay, Leyte, and Misamis Oriental are implementing alternative learning or suspending face-to-face classes up to the high school level.
Parents and students are advised to stay updated through official school channels and local government announcements as authorities continue to monitor Tropical Depression Basyang. The priority remains the safety and well-being of all learners during severe weather conditions.
