MANILA, Philippines — Several local government units and schools across the country have announced class suspensions for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, due to the continued rise of flu-like illnesses, the effects of recent earthquakes, and the implementation of precautionary health measures.

Walang Pasok

Authorities in multiple provinces have opted to either suspend face-to-face classes or shift to alternative learning modes to ensure the safety and well-being of students and school personnel.

Calabarzon

In Laguna, all face-to-face classes in both public and private schools remain suspended until October 31, with classes shifting to alternative learning modalities such as online and modular instruction. Similarly, Rizal Province has suspended in-person classes in all levels, both public and private, until October 17.

In Alitagtag, Batangas, classes from Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) programs to the Alternative Learning System (ALS) are suspended, with all schools advised to adopt distance learning methods in the meantime.

Davao Region

In the Davao Region, several municipalities continue to recover from the impact of recent earthquakes. The entire Davao Oriental Province has suspended face-to-face classes in all levels in both public and private institutions until further notice.

In Davao de Oro, the municipalities of Nabunturan, Mabini, Monkayo, Mawab, and Montevista have also declared class suspensions across all levels. Nabunturan schools are currently conducting asynchronous learning, while other municipalities have halted all classes entirely until further assessment.

Northern Mindanao

In Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, classes in all levels—public and private—remain suspended until further notice due to safety concerns following the series of tremors felt across Northern Mindanao.

Metro Manila

In the National Capital Region, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) announced a suspension of all classes and office work until October 16. The university cited ongoing disinfection efforts and precautionary health measures amid the surge of flu-like symptoms among students and staff.

Local authorities continue to monitor weather, health, and seismic updates. The Department of Education (DepEd) reminded schools to prioritize the welfare of learners and teachers while maintaining learning continuity through flexible delivery modes.
