Classes for Wednesday, October 23, 2024, have been suspended in various areas due to the impact of Tropical Storm Kristine, which continues to bring heavy rains and strong winds. Local authorities have decided to suspend classes to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
Below are the areas with announced class suspensions:
- Bulacan: All levels, both public and private schools, are suspended. Schools are expected to shift to online classes or implement modular distance learning to continue academic activities remotely.
- Cavite: All levels, both public and private schools, have also suspended classes for the day.
- Laguna: Similar to the other affected areas, all levels of public and private schools have declared class suspensions due to the storm’s effects.

Bacolod City and Negros Occidental Class Suspensions
As of today, October 22, 2024, over 600 schools in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental have also suspended face-to-face classes due to Tropical Storm Kristine. According to the Provincial Capitol, a total of 611 schools in Bacolod and across Negros Occidental have suspended in-person classes as a precaution against the storm.
In Negros Occidental alone, 226 schools under the Provincial Schools Division have declared suspensions. This includes:
- 27 schools in EB Magalona
- 29 schools in Talisay City
- 31 schools in Hinoba-an
- 32 schools in Isabela
- 14 schools in Don Salvador Benedicto
- 24 schools in Moises Padilla
- 37 schools in Binalbagan
- 32 schools in Ilog
In Bacolod City, 70 schools have suspended classes, while the following cities also saw significant numbers of class suspensions:
- Cadiz City: 81 schools
- Escalante City: 48 schools
- Kabankalan City: 119 schools
- Himamaylan City: 64 schools
- San Carlos City: 3 schools
A total of 728,455 students in the Western Visayas region have been affected by the suspension of face-to-face classes, including 99,044 students from the Negros Occidental Schools Division.
