#WalangPasok: Class Suspensions on July 17, 2025 Due to Crising

MANILA, Philippines — Several local government units across the country have declared class suspensions for Thursday, July 17, 2025, as Tropical Depression Crising continues to affect parts of the Philippines with heavy rains and gusty winds, intensified by the southwest monsoon or habagat.

Walang Pasok

In its latest 5:00 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Crising was spotted approximately 625 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes. The tropical depression maintained its strength, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness reaching up to 55 kph. It is moving west-northwest at a speed of 20 kph.

Due to the anticipated impact of Crising and the enhanced southwest monsoon, several provinces have announced the suspension of classes at all levels for both public and private schools.

Negros Region

In Negros Oriental, all classes at all levels are suspended.

Meanwhile, in Negros Occidental, the following areas have canceled classes in all levels for both public and private institutions:

  • Himamaylan
  • Binalbagan
  • Isabela
  • La Castellana
  • Hinigaran
  • Sipalay City
  • Cauayan
  • Hinobaan
  • Calatrava
  • Kabankalan City

In Hinobaan Negros Occidental, the suspension also covers work for both teaching and non-teaching personnel.

Antique

In Hamtic, face-to-face classes are suspended from preschool to senior high school until Friday, July 18.
In Patnongon, all classes from preschool to senior high school are suspended on Thursday.

Local officials advised residents in affected areas to remain alert and follow advisories from PAGASA and disaster management offices. Flooding and landslides remain a possibility, especially in low-lying and mountainous regions.

As Crising continues its movement over the Philippine Sea, more areas may issue class or work suspensions depending on weather developments. PAGASA is expected to release further bulletins as needed. Stay tuned to verified government channels for updates.
