In celebration of National and World Teachers’ Day, several areas across the Philippines have announced the suspension of classes on Friday, October 4, 2024. The suspension covers different levels of education, with some locations including both public and private schools, while others only affect public institutions.

World Teachers Day

Below is the list of areas where classes will be suspended:

All Levels (Public and Private):

  • Victoria, Tarlac
  • Barugo, Leyte
  • Concepcion, Tarlac
  • Capas, Tarlac

Public Schools Only:

  • Magalang, Pampanga
  • Makati City

Daycare to High School:

  • City of Manila (Public only, including Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila and Universidad De Manila)

These suspensions aim to honor and recognize the contributions of teachers to education and society. The celebration of National and World Teachers’ Day is part of the country’s acknowledgment of educators’ hard work, dedication, and their essential role in shaping the nation’s future.

Classes in all public daycare centers, and elementary, and high schools in Manila were suspended on Friday in celebration of National and World Teachers’ Day. Additionally, classes at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and the University of the Philippines Manila were suspended, according to an Manila Public Information Office (PIO) advisory.

In addition to the World Teachers’ Day celebrations, the municipality of Bongabon in Nueva Ecija has also declared a suspension of both classes and work at all levels. This is in observance of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the town’s patron saint. The local government has decided to provide the community with a day off to participate in religious and cultural activities honoring St. Francis, a revered figure known for his devotion to the environment and simple living.
