PAGASA Forecast January 7, 2026

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released its official weather forecast for Wednesday, January 7, 2026, warning of continued rainfall across many areas due to the combined influence of the Shear Line, Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), and Easterlies.

Pagasa Weather Update

Weather Systems in Effect

PAGASA reported that the Shear Line is affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon, while the Northeast Monsoon continues to dominate the rest of Luzon. Meanwhile, the Easterlies are influencing weather conditions over most of the Visayas and Mindanao.

Regional Weather Conditions

Several provinces are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Samar. These conditions are attributed to the Shear Line, which may trigger possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

In Palawan, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected as a result of the Trough of a Low Pressure Area (LPA). Residents are advised to remain alert for potential flooding and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.

The rest of Eastern Visayas will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought by the Easterlies, with similar risks of flooding and landslides.

Meanwhile, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon, but PAGASA noted no significant impact is expected in these areas.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also caused by the Northeast Monsoon, with no major weather-related threats anticipated.

For the rest of the country, the weather will be generally partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Localized flooding and landslides remain possible during severe thunderstorms.

Heavy Rainfall Outlook

PAGASA highlighted significant rainfall today, particularly over Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon, where 50 to 100 millimeters of rain may accumulate. Rainfall amounts may increase in mountainous and elevated areas, and impacts could worsen due to existing saturated ground from previous rains.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

In Extreme Northern Luzon, winds will be moderate to strong from the northeast, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough (1.8 to 4.0 meters). The rest of Luzon will experience similar wind conditions, with waves reaching 1.5 to 3.5 meters.

Elsewhere in the country, winds will be light to moderate, and coastal waters will range from slight to moderate (0.6 to 2.5 meters).
