PAGASA Heat Index Forecast For April 21, 2025

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that 19 areas across the country may experience a “danger level” heat index on Monday, April 21, 2025.

Heat Index Today

According to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. bulletin on April 20, synoptic stations in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and Aparri, Cagayan, are forecast to register a sweltering heat index of 44°C. This falls under PAGASA’s “danger” category, indicating a high risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Five other areas are forecast to record a 43°C heat index. These include:

  • Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
  • ISU Echague, Isabela
  • Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City
  • San Ildefonso, Bulacan
  • Sangley Point, Cavite City

Meanwhile, a 42°C heat index is expected in the following 12 areas:

  • NAIA, Pasay City
  • Bacnotan, La Union
  • Casiguran, Aurora
  • Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas
  • San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
  • Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
  • Daet, Camarines Norte
  • Masbate City
  • CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur
  • Dumangas, Iloilo
  • Catarman, Northern Samar
  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur

The heat index, or “apparent temperature,” reflects how hot it feels to the human body when humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature. A heat index of 42°C to 51°C is classified under PAGASA’s “danger” level, which could lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or worse, heat stroke.

In response, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has activated emergency protocols in some of the affected areas, reminding local governments to be on alert and ensure access to hydration and cooling facilities for the public.

PAGASA continues to advise the public to limit outdoor activities during peak midday hours, wear lightweight clothing, and stay hydrated. Children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses are especially vulnerable during extreme heat conditions.
