Pagasa Weather Forecast for December 25, 2024

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has issued its latest weather forecast for December 25, 2024. A shear line is currently affecting Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas, while the northeast monsoon (amihan) continues to influence the rest of Luzon.

Tropical Cyclone Advisory

As of 3:00 AM today, Tropical Storm Pabuk (formerly “Romina”) remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It is located approximately 335 kilometers west of Kalayaan, Palawan (Pag-asa Island), at coordinates 11.1°N, 111.2°E. Pabuk has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gustiness of up to 80 km/h and is moving west-southward slowly.

Forecast Weather Conditions

  • Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro
    Expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line. Moderate to heavy rains may result in flash floods or landslides.
  • Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region
    Cloudy skies with rains are expected due to the northeast monsoon. Moderate to heavy rains may also cause flash floods or landslides.
  • Ilocos Region
    Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are likely, attributed to the northeast monsoon, with no significant impact expected.
  • The rest of the country
    Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are anticipated due to easterlies. Severe thunderstorms may lead to flash floods or landslides.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

  • Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon
    Winds are strong from the northeast to east, with rough coastal waters (2.8 to 4.0 meters).
  • Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and the northeastern section of Mindanao
    Moderate to strong winds prevail, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough (2.1 to 3.7 meters).
  • The rest of Mindanao
    Light to moderate winds from the east to northeast are expected, with slight to moderate coastal waters (0.6 to 2.5 meters).

Advisories and Warnings

Due to possible flooding in flood-prone areas, a yellow rainfall warning is in effect for Quezon, Laguna, and Batangas. Additionally, light to moderate rains are forecasted for Nueva Ecija and Tarlac in the next three hours. Cavite, Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, and Zambales may experience light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rainfall persisting within three hours.
