PAGASA Weather Forecast for January 29, 2026

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the Northeast Monsoon, locally known as Amihan, continues to influence weather conditions across much of the country on Thursday, January 29, 2026. As of 2:00 a.m. today, PAGASA confirmed that there are no Low Pressure Areas (LPA) being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation, signaling generally stable large-scale weather systems nationwide.

Pagasa Weather Update

In Northern and Eastern sections of Luzon, particularly Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon Province, residents can expect cloudy skies accompanied by light rains. These conditions are directly linked to the Northeast Monsoon, which brings cool and moist air from the Asian continent. Despite the cloud cover and occasional drizzle, PAGASA noted that no significant weather-related impacts are anticipated in these areas, allowing daily activities to proceed with minimal disruption.

Meanwhile, Mindanao, along with Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. These weather disturbances are caused mainly by localized thunderstorms rather than large weather systems. While most areas will only see brief and scattered rainfall, PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms could trigger possible flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous locations. Residents are advised to remain alert, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours when thunderstorms are more likely to develop.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also due to the ongoing Northeast Monsoon. Similar to other Luzon areas, PAGASA emphasized that no major impacts are expected, although occasional light rainfall may still affect outdoor plans.

In terms of wind and coastal water conditions, Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds coming from the northeast to east, resulting in moderate to rough sea conditions with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 3.4 meters. Fisherfolk and operators of small sea vessels in these areas are advised to exercise caution. Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters, while Mindanao will also see light to moderate winds and generally manageable sea conditions.

PAGASA continues to encourage the public to stay updated through official weather bulletins, especially as localized thunderstorms and monsoon conditions can change rapidly.
