The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released its official weather forecast for Tuesday, January 6, 2026, warning of widespread rains and possible weather-related hazards across several regions due to the combined effects of the Shear Line, Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), and Easterlies.

Areas Under the Influence of the Shear Line
The Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Samar will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms caused by the Shear Line. PAGASA cautioned that moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous communities.
In addition, PAGASA issued a heavy rainfall outlook of 50–100 millimeters for Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon. Rainfall amounts may become even higher in elevated areas, and the risk of flooding could increase further due to significant antecedent rainfall from previous weather systems.
Trough of Low Pressure Area Brings Rain to Western Sections
Meanwhile, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, and Palawan are forecast to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of a Low Pressure Area (LPA). These regions are also advised to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides during periods of heavy rain.
Easterlies Affect Visayas and Mindanao
The rest of the Visayas will experience unsettled weather with scattered rains and thunderstorms influenced by the Easterlies, while the rest of Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Localized flooding and landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Amihan Brings Cooler Conditions to Northern Luzon
The Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains and generally fair conditions.
Wind and Coastal Water Outlook
PAGASA reported moderate to strong winds over Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao, with rough seas ranging from 1.8 to 3.5 meters. The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
Authorities advise the public and disaster risk reduction offices to remain vigilant, prepare for possible evacuations, and closely monitor PAGASA’s heavy rainfall warnings and thunderstorm advisories.
