Is INC’s Endorsement of candidates real?
Following the leak of the sample ballot showing the names of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Se. Ferdinand Marcos Jr as the tandem for presidential and vice presidential seats, respectively, supposedly endorsed by the Iglesia ni Cristo, officials denied again the reported endorsement.
According to Edwin Zabala, INC spokesperson, he denied anew that the INC has already endorses candidates for the May 9 election.
Zabala said that the claim announcing the endorsement through a circular read during a worship service by Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo is “inaccurate.”
The supposed sample ballot showing the names of the candidates to which claim are being endorsed by the INC circulated on Social Media on Wednesday.
However asked if the leaked sample ballot came from their group or if the names which appeared on the list are being supported by the INCs, Zabala on Wednesday refused to comment.
The INC is known for a solid voting of whoever the leaders choose for the members to vote for. Earlier, presidential candidates Sec. Mar Roxas, Sen. Grace Poe and Mayor Rodrigo Dutere have already met with the INC leaders to woo for the bloc vote.
Earlier this week, President Benigno Aquino III also met with the INC leader but details were not disclosed.
In national elections, the solid bloc of the INC members matter where the winning margin could go as much as two million votes, a potential clout in the national political arena.
