During his talk in Isabella, Duterte attempts to have a joke to lighten the mood in typhoon-ravage Isabella. He cracked a joke on the American accent of Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay.
According to a recent news report of ABS-CBN news, Duterte told the residents that he had shared a dormitory in college with Yasay and Labor Chief Walden Bello in College.
He revealed the resident of Isabella that they shared a dormitory before. Duterte, who distributed relief aid to Isabela, told residents that the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, Perfecto Yasay talks about his American accent.
He then referred to Yasay as the Cabinet Secretary who talks like US President Barack Obama.
“Ang ka-roommate ko dito sa aking kwarto ay si Yasay, ‘yung Foreign Secretary, kung mag-English, kala mo si Obama,” he said. “Narinig na ninyo si Yasay magsalita? Parang Amerikano ang buang, Pilipino naman.”
(My roommate was Yasay, the Foreign Secretary, who speaks English like Obama. Have you heard Yasay talk? That crazy man talks like an American, but he’s a Filipino.”)
His joke caught the attention of the Netizens over the social media. his video was now taking the social media by storm.
