The President said the unnecessary checkpoint operations only delay the travel of the people in all parts of Mindanao.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered for the halt in implementing unnecessary checkpoints, on October 29, Saturday afternoon.
The President made the pronouncement during the launching of the Comprehensive Reform and Development Agenda in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and other areas affected by conflicts, including in Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula), X (Northern Mindanao) and XII (SOCCSKSARGEN).
The launching was held at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC)), Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) Compound, in Cotabato City.
According to President Duterte, the unnecessary checkpoint operations only delay the travel of the people traversing to and from all parts of Mindanao, especially in Cotabato City, because of so many checkpoint operations along the way.
According to the Chief Executive, aside from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), other groups like the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) also have their own and separate checkpoint operations.
