“Canyoneering” has been known to many years ago but became more famous in the Philippines as more and more people found out this one-of-a-kind summer activity here in the Philippines.
If you want to have a unique summer experience here in the Philippines, Canyoneering is recommended for everybody. Here are the basic things you need to know:
- Activity proper starts at Badian, Cebu, three hours away from the main city. Buses are available through South Bus terminal, bound for “Bato via Barili” which is three hours travel time.
- All tourist guides of any service providers for Canyoneering activity are professionals, so you don’t have to worry anything.
- The best attire you’d be wearing are spandex-rubber materials, but don’t worry you could rent a pair of shoes if you don’t have one.
- Each costs Php 1,200 per person and includes life vest helmet, 500mL mineral water, a single snack, entrance fees, habal-habal ride, and well-trained guides plus lunch meal after the activity. Sounds good right?
- The whole activity lasts for almost 6 hours, which is why you should rest well and prepared a day before.
- It has three jump-off points. First jump is about 20 feet height – which is required, yes it is. The second and the third – the highest point are optional. It heights about 30-35 feet and you have the option to slide instead of jumping.
- Your tour guides would be really patient and even take the time to wait for you whenever you’re ready, they even are more than willing to take pictures for you!
- The activity is strictly from 6 AM to 3 PM only.The earlier, the better.
Tips and guides for you:
- Always be prepared emotionally,mentally, and physically. Enjoy and embrace life to the fullest!
- Bring first aid kits: this is always mandatory everytime we travel.
- Bring dry bags of sealed plastic wares to keep your small things dry. By the way, forget bringing you DSLRs or mobile phones.
- Always take the time to think before you act, many locals would go to you and offering you this and that – just do and buy what you needed, for you to save money.
- There’s always food everywhere, eat before you start and take a lunch for free after. In the middle of your activity, don’t get surprised if there’s a barbecue seller, they’re there occasionally.
- To enjoy more of the place, stop over at Kawasan Falls to appreciate its beauty.
