US Commander: Military Cooperation Between US And Philippines Remains
Top American commander announced that US-Philippine military cooperation remains despite President Duterte’s distasteful remarks to U.S President Obama.
On Tuesday (November 15, 2016), the military cooperation between Philippines and United States (US) remains despite President Duterte’s series of tirades against Obama for criticizing his war on illegal drugs amid Extrajudicial Killing (EJK) in the country, according to US Commander.
Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he is cutting the military and economic ties between US and Philippines. He also dares U.S to withdraw their financial assistance in the country and the president also said that he will be more dependent on China in case he needs help.
“Despite what he has said, there has been no change in anything with the Philippines,” said by Harry Harris, commander of the US Pacific Command, during an event in Washington quoted by Rappler.
