TV host Willie Revillame has hinted at the possibility of filing his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections. Although he has not provided specific details, Revillame has asked for prayers regarding a major decision he is set to make soon. The deadline for filing COCs is fast approaching, with the cut-off scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Back in January, Revillame boldly declared his readiness to run for senator in the 2025 elections. During an anti-charter change rally held in Davao City, he revealed that he had been encouraged by former President Rodrigo Duterte to pursue a career in public service. His statement sparked speculation about his political ambitions, leading many to believe that he might finally take the plunge into politics.
However, Revillame’s stance on running for office seems to have shifted recently. In an interview on TV5’s “Seryosong Usapan,” the 63-year-old celebrity revealed that his new contract with the network prohibits him from entering politics. “I’ll be honest, I have a contract with TV5. It said, no politics,” Revillame stated. The contract, which spans three years, effectively binds him to his role as a television host, limiting his ability to pursue a Senate seat.
Revillame returned to TV5 earlier this year, launching his new noontime show, “Wil to Win,” which premiered on July 15. He had previously hosted popular programs such as “Willing Willie” and “Wowowillie” on the same network from 2010 to 2013. His comeback to TV5 marked another chapter in his long-running career as a well-known entertainer.

Throughout his career, Revillame’s name has been repeatedly mentioned during election seasons. Despite expressing interest in public service, he has never formally filed his candidacy for any public office. Now, with his contract in place, it remains unclear whether Revillame will make a last-minute move to enter the political arena.
