According to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. weather bulletin issued on Wednesday, April 24, several areas are expected to experience a heat index ranging from 42°C to 45°C — a level that significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly heat stroke.

PAGASA categorizes areas with a heat index between 42°C to 51°C under the “danger” classification. At this level, individuals exposed to extreme heat are at high risk for heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
In light of the intense heat, the Department of Health (DOH) strongly advised the public to stay hydrated, recommending at least 10 glasses of water per day for those under prolonged sun exposure.

The agency also urged the public to wear light clothing, avoid outdoor activities during midday, and seek medical attention at the first sign of heat-related symptoms.
The public is advised to regularly monitor PAGASA updates and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this extreme weather.
