The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has released its weather forecast for November 26, 2024, highlighting the influence of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) on Northern Luzon and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao.
Weather Conditions
- Mindanao:
Due to the ITCZ, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected across the region. Residents should remain vigilant as moderate to heavy rains may lead to floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas. - Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora:
These areas will experience cloudy skies and rain caused by the northeast monsoon. Like Mindanao, there is a risk of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. - Ilocos Region:
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are anticipated, also attributed to the Northeast Monsoon. However, no significant impacts are expected in this region. - Metro Manila and the rest of the country:
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are forecast due to localized thunderstorms. While generally manageable, severe thunderstorms could result in flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.
Visayas, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro
These areas, including the Kalayaan Islands, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. The weather is primarily influenced by localized thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate, blowing from the northeast, with coastal waters expected to be slight to moderate at 0.6 to 2.5 meters.
Wind and Coastal Water Conditions
- Northern Luzon:
Moderate to strong northeast winds will prevail, resulting in moderate to rough coastal waters with waves ranging from 2.1 to 4.0 meters. - Rest of the Country:
Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast, with slight to moderate seas ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters.
Advisories
Pagasa advises the public to monitor updates, especially in areas with heavy rain warnings. Local disaster management offices are encouraged to stay on alert for possible evacuation or response measures in case of emergencies caused by flooding or landslides.
