The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has released its weather outlook for Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Pagasa Weather Update

Weather Conditions by Region

  • Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected due to the Shear Line. Moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas could lead to flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous regions.
  • Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur
The Easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Like the Bicol Region, moderate to heavy rains in these areas may result in flash floods or landslides.
  • Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon
These areas will experience cloudy skies with light rains brought by the Northeast Monsoon. However, the rainfall is not expected to cause significant disruptions.
  • Metro Manila and the Rest of Luzon
Due to the Northeast Monsoon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail in these areas. The impact is minimal, and daily activities are unlikely to be affected.
  • The Rest of the Country
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are anticipated due to the influence of the Easterlies. Severe thunderstorms may bring localized flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

  • Northern and Central Luzon
Moderate to strong winds from the northeast will generate moderate to rough coastal waters with wave heights ranging from 2.1 to 3.7 meters.
  • The Rest of the Country
Light to moderate winds from the east to northeast will lead to slight to moderate coastal waters, with wave heights between 0.6 and 2.5 meters.

Residents in areas affected by the Shear Line and Easterlies, especially in the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and parts of Mindanao, are advised to remain vigilant for potential flash floods or landslides. PAGASA encourages the public to stay updated on the latest weather bulletins and take necessary precautions.
