Pagasa Weather and Heat Index Forecast for March 13, 2025

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued the following weather and heat index forecast for Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Pagasa Weather Forecast

Weather Synopsis

Easterlies—warm winds originating from the Pacific Ocean—are currently affecting the country and influencing weather patterns nationwide.

Forecast Weather Conditions

  • Eastern Visayas: Anticipated to experience cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the prevailing easterlies. Residents should remain vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides, especially in areas prone to these hazards, as moderate to heavy rainfall may occur.
  • Metro Manila and the Rest of the Country: The forecast calls for partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, which are also attributed to the easterlies. While these rain events may be sporadic, severe thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides in susceptible regions.

Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

  • Eastern Section of the Country: Moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast are expected, resulting in moderate coastal waters with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters.
  • Rest of the Country: Light to moderate winds coming from the east to northeast are anticipated, leading to slight to moderate coastal waters with wave heights between 0.6 to 1.2 meters.

Heat Index Forecast

PAGASA has identified several areas where the heat index is projected to reach “danger” levels on March 13, 2025. The heat index measures the apparent temperature felt by the human body when relative humidity is combined with air temperature.

  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan: Expected to experience a heat index of up to 45°C.
  • Virac, Catanduanes: Forecasted to reach a heat index of 42°C.
  • Cotabato City, Maguindanao: Also anticipated to have a heat index of 42°C.

A heat index ranging from 42°C to 51°C falls under the “danger” category, indicating a heightened risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke with prolonged exposure.

Recommendations for the Public

Given the forecasted weather conditions and elevated heat indices, PAGASA advises the public to:

  • Stay Hydrated: Regularly drink water, even if not thirsty, to prevent dehydration.
  • Limit Outdoor Activities: Especially during peak midday hours, to minimize exposure to extreme heat.
  • Wear Appropriate Clothing: Lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing can help maintain normal body temperature.
  • Stay Informed: Regularly monitor updates from PAGASA and local authorities for the latest weather information and advisories.

By taking these precautions, individuals can mitigate the adverse effects of the prevailing weather conditions and ensure their safety and well-being.
