Mindanao, Palawan Under Threat of Heavy Rainfall

The ITCZ remains active and is affecting Mindanao and Palawan, resulting in cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Palawan. Pagasa warns residents in these areas to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas, due to moderate to occasionally heavy rains.

The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also influenced by the ITCZ. While rainfall is expected to be more isolated, severe thunderstorms may still bring hazards such as flooding and landslides.

Frontal System Affects Batanes

Meanwhile, Batanes will see cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by a frontal system. As with other affected areas, residents are advised to watch out for flash flooding and landslides.

Easterlies Dominate Luzon and Metro Manila

For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, the easterlies continue to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Although rainfall is expected to be localized, intense downpours during thunderstorms may lead to flooding and landslides, particularly in flood-prone areas.

Coastal Conditions and Wind Speeds

Pagasa also reported varied wind conditions across the country. Extreme Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds from the east to northeast, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough (1.5 to 2.8 meters). In contrast, light to moderate winds are expected in the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan, with coastal waters at slight to moderate levels (0.6 to 1.5 meters). The rest of Luzon will likewise experience light to moderate winds and coastal conditions.

Temperature and Humidity Extremes

Temperature peaked at 35.3°C at 2:00 PM, with the lowest at 24.9°C at 6:00 AM. Humidity ranged from a maximum of 87% at 5:00 AM to a low of 50% at 2:00 PM.
