Actress Sunshine Cruz has strongly denied rumors circulating online about her alleged breakup with businessman Atong Ang, which were further sensationalized by claims of abuse.

In a recent Facebook post, Cruz shared screenshots of various misleading social media posts that falsely claimed she had spoken out about an abusive relationship with Ang. She marked the posts as “fake news” and urged the public to be more discerning when consuming information online.

“Sharing misinformation is not advisable especially if the news comes from a questionable site. Be vigilant, family and friends,” Cruz wrote in the caption of her post.

Some of the false posts claimed that Cruz had supposedly “broken her silence” and was calling for justice after allegedly suffering abuse. However, the actress clarified that she never made any such statements and condemned the spread of fabricated stories that put her and her loved ones in a difficult position.

In addition to warning her followers about the fake reports, Cruz posted a quote card that read, “Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet just because there’s a picture with a quote next to it.” The message emphasized her call for online users to fact-check and avoid falling for clickbait content.

Sunshine and Atong Ang’s relationship first became public in December 2024 when a video of them kissing at an event went viral. Atong later confirmed their relationship, but Cruz remained relatively quiet about the details, opting to keep her private life away from the spotlight.

The actress was previously married to action star Cesar Montano. Their marriage was annulled in 2018. Sunshine and Cesar have three daughters—Angelina, Chesca, and Sam—whom Sunshine often features on her social media as she continues to focus on motherhood and her showbiz career.

Cruz’s response to the fake news underscores the growing issue of misinformation online, especially involving public figures. Her statement serves as a reminder to the public to think critically about what they read and share on social media platforms. As Cruz put it, vigilance and responsible sharing can help stop the spread of harmful false narratives.

Meanwhile, whistleblower alias “Totoy” has made headlines with his revelations, where he exposed the alleged involvement of Atong Ang and actress Gretchen Barretto in the disappearance of the so-called “Missing Sabungeros.”
