Based on the article recently published in Inquirer, the parents signed a letter addressed to National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Dante Gierran.

In the said letter, they claimed that several members of MPD barged into the house of Ralph Trangia on March 22 to implement the arrest warrant issued by a Manila judge.

Judge Alfredo Ampuan of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 40 ordered the arrest on the aforementioned date before he withdrawn from the case.

It was also stated in the letter that allegedly the policemen “did not present any warrant of arrest and neither did they present a search warrant allowing them to enter the house of Trangia.”

Supt. Erwin Margarejo, the spokesperson of Manila Police District (MPD) said that it is not yet clarified if the said cops are really from their unit but he stated with assurance that they would “always abide by the rule of law provided by our Constitution.”

The parents of the suspects also requested that their sons remain in the custody of NBI as they claim that they will be in danger once they will be transferred to the custody of MPD.

Under Republic Act No. 8049, Trangia along with Arvin Balag, Oliver John Onofre, Mhin Wei Chan, Axel Munro Hipe, Juan Miguel Salamat, John Robin Ramos, Danielle Hans Matthew Rodrigo, Joshua Joriel Macabali and Marcelino Bagtang were charged with a nonbailable offense due to the death of Castillo in September last year, based on the article.
