The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a heavy rainfall warning on March 9, 2026, due to the presence of a trough associated with a Low Pressure Area (LPA) affecting parts of Mindanao. The weather disturbance is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall that may trigger flooding in low-lying communities and landslides in mountainous areas.

Under the latest advisory, a Yellow Warning has been raised in several areas, including parts of Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Davao Oriental, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte. PAGASA warned that these areas could experience significant rainfall, potentially causing localized flooding, particularly in communities near rivers and coastal areas.
Several municipalities, including Gingoog City and Magsaysay in Misamis Oriental, Impasug-ong and Malaybalay City in Bukidnon, and Boston, Cateel, and Baganga in Davao Oriental, are under the rainfall alert. Residents in these locations are urged to remain vigilant, monitor weather updates, and follow instructions from local authorities.
Meanwhile, moderate to occasionally heavy rain showers are also expected within the next two to three hours in other parts of Mindanao. These include additional towns in Misamis Oriental, such as Cagayan de Oro City, Tagoloan, and Opol. Rainfall may also affect areas in Bukidnon,n including Valencia City and Talakag, as well as multiple municipalities in Zamboanga del Norte, Davao de Oro, Basilan, Zamboanga del Sur, Sulu, and Davao del Norte.
Weather conditions with steady rainfall are already being observed in several areas, including Balingasag, Claveria, and Medina in Misamis Oriental, parts of Bukidnon such as Manolo Fortich and Sumilao, and the island province of Camiguin. Rainfall is also being reported in parts of Zamboanga Peninsula and the Davao Region.
In addition to the rainfall warning, PAGASA has issued General Flood Advisories for several regions across the country. These include Western Visayas (Region VI), Central Visayas (Region VII), Eastern Visayas (Region VIII), Northern Mindanao (Region X), Davao Region (Region XI), and the Caraga (Region XIII).
Authorities continue to advise residents, particularly those living in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, to remain alert and take precautionary measures as the weather disturbance moves across Mindanao.
