Dayko: The Hero Dog
A yellow Labrador – Dayko ceased from abrupt exhaustion after saving seven people who were trapped in a catastrophic 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Ecuador happened last week.
Dayko, the 4-year-old rescue dog has been dubbed hero for aiding the Ibarra Fire service in searching for people who survived in the midst of the calamity – a duty Dayko has been fulfilling for more than 3 years.
According to a post by Cuerpo De Bomberos Ibarra Ibarra, the courageous dog suddenly c0llapsed during the search operations and eventually di3d from “massive coronary myocardial infarction and acute respiratory failure.”
Rescue officials who were presenting at the scene tried their very best to revive the Dayko, but failed to do so.
As reported by The Telegraph, meanwhile, firefighters who worked with Dayko extend their sentiments for their heroic friend.

“This four legged friend gave his life in the line of duty. Thank you Dayko for your heroic efforts in Pedernales and in various emergencies where you were present,” said one of their representatives.
“You held high the name of the K9 unit,” added.
The earthquake last April 16 is one of the most terrifying and devastating calamities that happened in Ecuador, with 654 people lost their lives and leaving 2,000 other wounded, according to the reports.
Rafael Correa, President of Ecuador said, that reconstruction of damages would cost billions of dollars and the impact on economic growth “could be huge.”
