Marcos over voting discrepancies: Comelec should assure the honest counting of votes.
Vice Presidential candidate Sen. Bongbong Marcos is not at ease over the ongoing overseas absentee voting (OAV) saying he will file complaints over the alleged discrepancies found during the process.
Marcos said on Wednesday that his office has already gathered at least 10 complaints from Filipinos registered under the OAV which they will pass to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the technology provider Smartmatic for examination.
According to Marcos himself, the reports came from concerned OFWs in Hong Kong, Japan, Dubai and California adding that the reports showing “only he and his cousin,” senatorial candidate Martin Romualdez “were the only ones losing votes” there.
Marcos earlier urged the Comelec to explain the alleged discrepancies especially between ballots and printed voters’ receipts during the OAV.
He cited instances of discrepancies like when OFWs voted for him but their receipts turned out showing that they did for Sen. Gregorio Honasan.
The vice presidential aspirant is hoping that the Comelec and the Smartmatic could assure that the counting of votes will be honest and that the votes registered by the OFWs will be properly counted.
The Comelec earlier encouraged every voter to approach the chairman of the board of election inspectors (BEIs) for complaints over the contents of the receipt so that that it will be logged in the minutes.
After going ahead in the surveys, Marcos is now statistically tied with Rep. Leni Robredo.
