The Department of Transportation (DOTr), together with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), officially announced on Thursday that they will be opening new ferry routes between Metro Manila and Cavite.
The operationalization of these routes, according to MARINA, will begin in phases. These phases are the following:
- Phase 1 – Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall) / Sangley Port to SM MOA FerryTerminal
- Phase 1 – Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall) / Sangley Port to CCP Port
- Phase 2 – Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall) / Sangley Port to Escolta, Manila
- Phase 2 – Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall) / Sangley Port to Lawton Ferry Terminal
“In cooperation of DOTr, through MARINA, PPA and PCG, and other agencies such as Philippine Navy, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) and the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Cavite and Manila, the dry run of the Phase 1 of the Cavite to Metro Manila routes is expected to be conducted in the first week of December 2019,” MARINA said in a post.
Shipping companies such as Shogun Ships Co., Incorporated, Starlite Ferries, Incorporated, Seaborne Shipping Lines Incorporated, and Pinoy Catamaran Corporation also wanted to participate in the said operationalization of routes.
