The President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte met with envoys representing two of the most powerful countries in the world, the United States of America and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland (UK). Aside from the UK and the US envoys, the incoming Philippine President also met with the envoy from Germany.
Pres. Rody Dutete met with Ambassador Philip Goldberg of the United States and Asif Ahmad of the United Kingdom as well as Thomas Ossowski of Germany. The meeting between the Philippine President and three powerful envoys happened at the Malacañang of the south located in Davao City.
The Malacañang of the south is located at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) compound in Davao City. For the past few weeks, President Rodrigo Duterte used the said compound in Davao City as his seat of power while preparing for the highly anticipated inauguration of Pres. Duterte in Malacanang.
The three popular international envoys Goldberg, Ahmad, and Ossowski paid their separte courtesy calls to the outgoing mayor of Davao City and incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines. According to the camp of Mayor Duterte, the meeting with the international envoys is just “a courtesy call.”
The closed-door meeting between President Duterte and the international envoys were not disclosed to the media. Although the details of the meeting were not disclosed, the UK envoy Ahmad shared photos of his meeting with Pres. Duterte on Twitter.
According to the UK envoy, he gave the incoming Presidenta a pair of miniature Triumph motorbike toys as token, while Pres. Duterte gave him a Philippine eagle souvenir. This is not the first time that Pres. Duterte met with ambassadors because he already had a meeting with the ambassadors of Japan, China, Israel and Russia.
