Aiza Seguerra and wife Liza would not pursue the planned in vitro fertilization scheduled supposedly this year.
Singer Aiza Seguerra revealed that he and his wife, actress Liza Diño, have postponed their plan to undergo in vitro fertilization, this year.
Seguerra and Diño initially planned on flying to the United States in November to undergo IVF procedure in one of the hospitals in the country.
Their November flight aims to start preparations for having their own baby.
In vitro fertilization is a procedure that helps couples conceive a child.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Seguerra explained the reason behind their decision to postpone the planned procedure.
“Baka hindi matuloy this year ang IVF namin ni Liza dahil bukod sa hindi kami makaalis nang matagal, medyo mahal ang magagastos at hindi kami handang maglabas ng ganoong kalaking halaga,” wrote Seguerra.
(“Our IVF might not push through this year because we won’t be able to leave the country and the procedure is quite expensive. We’re not prepared to spend that much money.”)
To recall, Seguerra came out as a transgender man in the year 2014.
Seguerra and Diño got married in a private ceremony in California in December 2014.
Last month, they were given positions in the Duterte administration. Seguerra was named chairman of the National Youth Commission, while Diño is the new chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
The two previously said they had consulted a clinic in the US that could help facilitate a pregnancy, even it costs big.
“Actually, inaayos na namin yung schedule. Hopefully by November, maglilipat na kami papuntang States. Kasama na ‘yun, magpapa-check na para by the time lumipat kami ng November, ‘yung process na,” the singer said.
Asked if they already have a sperm donor in the US, Seguerra revealed: “We will find out pag-uwi namin doon. Medyo mahal siya although it’s much cheaper if gay guys pareho. But since nasa akin na ang egg cells and Liza will carry, cheaper na. Ang mahal is the harvesting of the egg cells and the surrogacy. That’s very expensive because you have to take care of your chosen surrogate mother.”
