Jean Garcia reacts to comments on original “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” series.
Award-winning actress Jean Garcia feels flattered by the positive comments she has been receiving on the original hit series “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.” She played the popular role of Madam Claudia in the original soap.
In an interview with Pep, the 46-year-old actress said that she is very grateful that people are saying that the original was much better than the remake.
“Hindi pero alam mo, maraming-maraming salamat din, at siyempre nakakataba ng puso everytime na sinasabi nila na, you know, mas better daw yung Pangako before, ganyan,” she said.
Jean Garcia also appreciates that the casts of remake are working hard for the television series. She is just happy that people like the original.
“Nakakatuwa lang na maririnig mo sa mga tao na mas gusto nila yung dati, yung original, ganun…” she added.
A remake of “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” was produced in 2015 starring Kapamilya love team Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. It was previously starred by Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales.
Madam Claudia was portrayed by Angelica Panganiban, while Amor Powers originally played by Eula Valdez was portrayed by Jodi Sta. Maria, who also stared in the original series.
When asked about her reaction about the opinion that the stars did not surpass the original Amor Powers and Madam Claudia, Garcia said “at least they tried.”
The remake was aired from May 2015 to February 2016. The original series ran from November 2000 to 2002 and was considered as the highest rated finale episode for Filipino TV series.
