Lea Salonga reacts to article about her niece’s observation on out of tune singers
Broadway diva Lea Salonga expressed her reaction to the article regarding the remark of her niece to out of tune singers in a noontime musical variety show.
Lea shared on her Facebook Page what Gerard Salonga’s daughter Carmen said.

“From Gerard’s Facebook page. It was too good to not share. Was watching a noontime musical variety show, and my daughter very accurately remarked “they’re singing out of tune, and way too slow”. Producers and artists alike – please realize that there are a lot of people who actually listen, and are not merely dazzled by the stars,” she wrote.
Several netizens commented on her post asking what particular noontime show and what was the production number. Some netizens and reporter Pilar Mateo commented that many viewers have already noticed this.

Philippine Entertainment Portal reported this on May 6, 2019, with the headline: “Lea Salonga, Gerard Salonga notice stars singing out of tune in noontime musical variety show.”
A recent post on the Page of the actress-singer stated: “Wow… talk about making it to the news quick. In the interest of accuracy (the article gets it right, but the headline is hella misleading), it was neither my brother nor I that said anything; it was his daughter Carmen that did. I haven’t seen the number she was referring to, but I’m actually curious, just to verify how off key it was.”
Again, this received a comment from Pilar Mateo and she said, “Yeah sabi ko nga BATA pa ang nakapansin [wink emoji].”
Then, Lea Salonga replied that the “audiences are smarter than many of those in the know think they are.”
