Former child star Isabelle de Leon joins Miss World Philippines 2019
Former child star Isabelle de Leon, who was known as Duday in the defunct Kapuso sitcom Daddy Di Do Du, is now a grown-up lady and she is joining the Miss World Philippines 2019.
In 2000, Isabelle played the role of Angelina in the Kapuso mini-series Munting Anghel. A year after that, she was able to get the role of Duday in the sitcom with Bossing Vic Sotto. The said aired until 2007.
Her role was one of Kul’s (Vic) daughters and her older sisters in the show are Danica Sotto-Pingris who played as Dinna and Maxene Magalona as Donna. After that stint, she did some TV series and movies. She even won five acting awards for her role in the movie Magnifico. In 2009, Isabelle took a break from showbiz.
According to the former child star, when she took a break from showbiz, that was the time she called it “awkward stage”. “I was a chubby kid, and I wasn’t the cool kid, so I’ve experienced bullying and cyberbullying,” she said.

Now, she is one of the 40 official candidates of Miss World Philippines 2019. Based on the article from Philippine Entertainment Portal, the former child star will forever be grateful for her stint as Duday. “I’m forever grateful sa name na yun kasi hanggang ngayon, naalala pa rin ako ng mga tao because of that. For that role, I’m truly grateful sa opportunity na yun,” she shared.
When it comes to joining the national beauty pageant, Isabelle said, “Siguro, you’re never too young or never too old to set a new dream. I never expected myself to become a beauty queen. But I guess, even though this is my first pageant, life can change you into becoming a beauty queen.”
